CAYEY – The cell phones of two federal convicts who disappeared on June 12, one of them who had just completed probation on June 5 and the other who is on probation, were found last Wednesday on the banks of the La Plata river, below of the PR-1 highway bridge, and according to police sources, both were enemies of federal fugitive Nelson Torres Delgado, nicknamed “El Burro”, for whose capture the United States government is offering a $50,000 reward.

The first of the cell phones found belongs to Noel Omar Rodríguez López, who a few weeks ago a federal judge had ruled that his probation had expired. Rodríguez López, who is nicknamed “Noel Bunker”, had been accused of belonging to a narco organization in the Jardines de Oriente residential complex in Humacao, whose boss was Alex Santos Luyando, nicknamed “Alex el Gordo”.

SANTA ISABEL – A 19-year-old boy, the son of a lieutenant attached to the Stolen Vehicles Bureau, was murdered at 2:05 in the morning…

According to investigations involving intelligence agents from San Juan and Caguas, as well as agents from the Caguas Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC), Rodríguez López had been residing in the city of Seattle, in the state of Washington. He had returned to Puerto Rico to resolve “some business” and was living in Caguas.

The other disappeared person, Don Johnson Aponte Betancourt, was serving a weapons test and between June 11 and 12 he left his home in the Monte Hatillo residential area, heading towards Caguas, where he would meet Rodríguez López.

The relatives of both reported them missing and it was not until the afternoon of last Wednesday, June 14, that both cell phones were found. Rodríguez López’s cell phone was on the shore and Aponte Betancourt’s was submerged in the river a short distance away.

“El Burro”, to whom the federal authorities attribute cases of extreme violence perpetrated in the La Lorenzana hamlet, in San Lorenzo, in which the bodies of several of his victims were allegedly dismembered and thrown into a river, would have been behind the kidnapping of both federal convicts.

Some confidential reports indicate that “El Burro”, responsible for the massacre that occurred in Cidra on December 8, 2021, is hiding in the Dominican Republic; Others point out that he is in Colombia or the United States, while several people say that he is in Puerto Rico and that he has been seen between Arroyo and Patillas.

“El Burro” allegedly wanted to settle accounts with Rodríguez López, who at some point had been his ally, but would have started operating on his own and was trying to do business in Monte Hatillo.

The agents had not found Rodríguez López’s white Mitsubishi Lancer, the car in which they are believed to have been transported after their kidnapping.

The investigation covers other criminals such as the fugitives “Bemba” and “Rata”, who are suspected of having been carrying out carjackings in the area to sell the cars to the “El Burro” organization.
