Disappearance of Lina: “Hope is fading”, the teenager’s father comes out of silence for the first time after 7 months of investigation

Seven months after the disappearance of the 15-year-old teenager in Plaine in Bas-Rhin, her father spoke out for the first time.

Lina disappeared on September 23 on the way to Saint-Blaise-la-Roche station. After the Why Not solidarity concert organized this Saturday in Plaine, his father, Olivier, spoke for the first time in thehe columns of Latest News from Alsace.

“I’m holding on to that.”

While seven months have passed since his daughter’s disappearance, her father does not want to lose hope: “The fact of not knowing allows us to maintain hope, to tell ourselves that perhaps she is sequestered somewhere and still alive. I’m holding on to that.

However, Olivier evokes a daily life “not easy” as the days go by : “The more time passes, the more this hope diminishes. Deep down I suspect that…” he told our colleagues without finishing his sentence.

He has “always been there” for his daughter

If he chose to speak out for the first time, it was to silence the gossip on social networks about his relationship with Lina: “There I make a superhuman effort. I do it to cut short everything that is being said, the gossip that is going on, about how I wasn’t there for my daughter.

However, Olivier reminds us, he “always been there“for his daughter, and emphasizes”good relations” with her, certainly punctuated by difficult moments. However, it was he who accompanied her to the gendarmerie to file a complaint with her mother, when she denounced acts of rape against two young men in 2022.

On sick leave since

Heard twice by the investigators as part of the investigation, Lina’s father remembers their professionalism and the work undertaken since the disappearance of his daughter: “I have no criticism to make of the investigations that are being carried out. I would be in a bad position to make a criticism. They give their all with the means they have. It’s painstaking work“.

Since Lina no longer gave any sign of life, Olivier stopped his job as a truck driver: “At first, I thought I would keep working. I tried to restart twice but my doctor refused because of my job“.
