Directors of CABI (International Center for Agricultural Bioscience) visited INIA offices in Chillán, where the largest biological control research group in the country is gathered.

The delegation was made up of Richard Shaw, director for Europe and America of CABI, and the director of CABI for Brazil and Latin America, Yelitza Colmenarez, whose visit focused on learning about the work carried out by INIA in terms of biological controllers of agricultural pests.

Shaw maintained that it is possible to analyze “what we can learn and how much we can help,” in addition to providing practical aspects in the generation of bioinputs for producers.

The scientists were received by the regional director of INIA, Javier Chilian, and were able to see the Microbial Genetic Resources Bank and the National Bioinputs Center.

The INIA researcher and CABI representative in Chile, Lorena Barra, in charge of the National Center for Bioinputs, highlighted that “the visit of the directors was based on the long history that our country has in matters of biological control.”
