Director’s insurance doctor designation “cancellation” Psychiatric hospital assault in Hachioji, former patient side offers: Tokyo Shimbun TOKYO Web

In response to the incident in which a nurse at Takiyama Hospital, a psychiatric hospital in Hachioji, Tokyo, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an inpatient, Keisuke Aihara, a lawyer representing former patients, said on the 8th, Director Shigenobu Asakura and others. We applied to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to cancel the designation of the two doctors as insurance doctors and the hospital’s designation as an insurance medical institution. In addition, the city and the city of Hachioji also requested cancellation of the designation of the designated medical institution for public assistance.

At a press conference held at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, lawyer Aihara said that in 2000, Asakura Hospital, a psychiatric hospital in Saitama Prefecture, where Asakura previously served as director, received an improvement order from the prefecture for unfairly detaining a patient’s body. As a result, in 2001, the designation of a medical institution under insurance was revoked for fraudulently claiming a total of 27 million yen in medical fees. In the same year, Dr. Asakura’s registration as a health insurance doctor was revoked by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and he was reregistered in 2006.

In the petition, he pointed out, “The problem at Takiyama Hospital cannot be said to be a reenactment of the Asakura Hospital incident. It should be verified whether the re-appointment as a health insurance doctor was appropriate.” We asked for presentation of judgment criteria. (Takayasu Miyamoto)
