Director of Neves Bendinha defends the creation of burn units in hospitals – news

Due to the demand that comes daily to the General Specialized Hospital Neves Bendinha, in Luanda, the head of this health institution is of the opinion that, in each existing hospital in the country, sections should be created to treat patients with burns, in order to facilitate, mainly, the care of patients from other provinces

The high-quality rehabilitation that the well-known “Hospital dos Queimados, located in the Popular neighborhood, deserved, very recently, to the point of also improving the quality of care and treatment of patients, encourages Dadi Bucusso Netemo, the managing leader of the aforementioned health establishment , which encourages the Angolan Executive to build other hospitals of this type.

“There is no doubt that the country needs new hospitals like ours, because this is the only burn hospital unit that Angola has and the number of patients with burns is not small, it is very high, due to the easy exposure of the causes. I must emphasize that this cannot only be resolved with new structures, but with the creation of burn treatment units, in existing hospitals, especially those in other provinces”, said Dadi Bucusso Netemo.

He considers that the major rehabilitation and equipping of a hospital that called for almost everything, brought a new dynamic of work, to the point that, currently, apart from the misunderstandings of users in initial care, the only cries that can be heard, but also of a smaller form, compared to the previous ones, are those of patients, as a result of initial pain.

“The number of daily attendances increased to more than one hundred percent, since, previously, at the Zango hospital, where we were temporarily operating, during rehabilitation, the records of patients with burns, traumas, children (pediatrics) and normal or general medicine were around 250. Today, we see almost 700 patients per day”, estimated the interviewee, unable to hide his satisfaction.

At the “Hospital dos Queimados”, patients with other pathologies are treated, as the team receives individuals with burns, but who have other illnesses, such as cases of malaria, hypertension, diabetes or pregnant women.

Dadi Bucusso Netemo assured that, when the strategy of creating burns units in health establishments with the general or municipal category is implemented, the Specialized General Hospital Neves Bendinha will be freer, but will not stop receiving patients from other provinces or from the hidden areas of Luanda.

“The only difference will be receiving patients with burns who have already stabilized or those who require more specialized and in-depth care”, explained the director general, admitting that it saddens him to know that a certain patient who was being transferred from a certain province did not arrive to the institution that it manages with life”, he said.
