The National Fund for Workers’ Consumption Institute (Fonacot) in Zacatecas has received a favorable response to the loans it offers, highlighting the advantages that these represent for affiliated workers.

Jesús Christopher Tovar Gutiérrez, state director of Fonacot in Zacatecas, said that the interest rates managed by the institution are competitive, with a minimum annual rate of 8.9% for credit directed to women.

This rate is considerably low compared to other financial options on the market, since on average, the interest rates they handle are above 20%, depending on the type of credit and the specific conditions of the applicant.

He said that Fonacot has evolved in recent years, going from being perceived as an entity that offered loans mainly for the purchase of furniture and white goods, to consolidating itself as a financial institution that provides cash loans.

Tovar Gutiérrez emphasized that this change has been crucial for workers to see Fonacot as a versatile option to obtain financing, not only for consumer goods, but also to face emergency situations or carry out personal projects.

She explained that Fonacot currently offers three types of credit: cash credit, cash credit for women and credit for victims, noting that this diversity of financial products aims to expand access to the benefits offered by the institution, not only to workers in the state of Zacatecas, but also to employees of affiliated companies in other regions.

He noted that throughout the month, more than 900 people have accessed a Fonacot loan in Zacatecas, with an amount exceeding 40 million pesos, expecting that by the end of the month, the figure will reach 50 million pesos, contributing to the annual placement goal of 400 million pesos.

Finally, he said that to access a Fonacot loan, the main requirement is that the company is affiliated with the institution, which is mandatory by law. In the event that a company is not affiliated, it can carry out the registration process in a simple way through an online portal.

Once affiliated, workers can apply for a loan by presenting four basic documents: official identification, proof of address, pay stubs and a bank account for the transfer of the loan.
