Forced to deprogram “the Emigrants”, the director of the Festival d’Avignon has decided to program himself this summer. A choice that is difficult to pass in an environment where the works struggle to exist over time.

We waited impatiently to find out which show would replace the Emigrants, the unfinished creation by Krystian Lupa programmed at the Avignon Opera and which the festival management was forced to cancel. Last week, the director of the festival, Tiago Rodrigues, assured us that he and his team would ensure that the substitute show would not be affected by the particular conditions of his exhibition and might not be compared to that of the master Polish octogenarian.
