Calculated in kroner, the court’s decision corresponds to the fact that the former Agri Nord director has been acquitted of 90 percent of the total amount of millions that he was accused of defrauding his former workplace.
But there are still some points where the court finds it proven that Kim Koch has defrauded Agri Nord.
This happened with the help of invoices that covered private expenses, but which he still got his workplace to cover.
During his case, Kim Koch explained that the invoices covered a secret agreement on a salary bonus that he had entered into with Agri Nord’s chairman of the board.
However, the court did not buy that explanation.
And that puts a dent in Kim Koch’s joy.
– I am really sorry that we have not been able to lift the burden of proof on this point, he says.
Now both the Prosecutor’s Office and Kim Koch have a few weeks in which to consider whether the district court’s verdict should be appealed to the High Court.
– I have agreed with my defender that I will just use the weekend to think about whether I should appeal or whether I should let the case go, says Kim Koch.
He is currently director of the interest organization Bæredygtdigt Landbrug.
Kim Koch does not know whether today’s sentence will have consequences for his job as director.
– It is up to the board. We have agreed that they will take a position on the case when there is a verdict.
