Diplomatic Agents Recalled for Proximity to Political Party: Senegal’s Crackdown on Opposition

Liberation reports that two diplomatic agents, Papa Mada Ndour and Mamy Touré, were recalled to Dakar recently. They are blamed for their closeness to Sonko.

The Senegalese authorities took this decision as part of a “vast hunt once morest diplomatic agents who are members of Pastef or suspected of acquaintances with this party”, according to the newspaper in its Thursday publication.

The same source specifies that Papa Mada Ndour is also a member of the political bureau of Ousmane Sonko’s party and that he was stationed at the Senegalese embassy in Rabat. His contract in this diplomatic representation was originally due to end in June 2025.
