Diplomacy: Central African President on Working Visit to Cameroon

The current President of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera, is in Cameroon for a friendly and working visit on the invitation of his Cameroonian peer President Paul Biya.

The special Camairco aircraft carrying the visiting President landed at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport at 2:14pm and taxied to a halt at 2:17pm in the bright skies of this followingnoon of Saturday, 29 April 2023.

At the foot of the plane to welcome President Faustin Archange Touadera was the Director of Civil Cabinet at the Presidency, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, personal representative of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.

The Ambassador of the Centre African Republic accredited to Yaounde, the Minister of External Relations, the Governor of the Centre Region, the President of the Centre Regional Council and other State personalities were at the Airport to welcome the leader of the neighbouring country.

A host of personalities of the Central African Embassy in Yaounde were also presented to shake hands with their Head of State.

The visit President and the Director of Civil Cabinet of Cameroon had a brief discussion at the VIP lounge of the Nsimalen International Airport.

President Faustin Archange Touadera later communed with nationals of his country resident in Yaounde as well as CPDM supporters who turned out at the Airport with songs and drums to cheer the Central African leader.

After the Airport civilities, the Presidential motorcade took off from the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport en route to the Yaounde Hilton hotel where the visiting President will be lodged during his stay for the friendly and working visit on the invitation of President Paul Biya of Cameroon.

Face to face at the Unity Palace

President Paul Biya is scheduled to receive the visiting President of the Central African Republic for high level discussions at the State House, Unity Palace.

The content of the discussions has not been made public.

The visit of the Central African leader comes regarding six weeks (43 days) following he was handed over the mantle of the rotary leadership of the subregional organisation, the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, CEMAC during the Ordinary Conference of CEMAC Heads of State in Yaounde.

The position was previously held by Cameroon’s leader, President Paul Biya.
