The selection of the new Artistic Director of DIPETHE Patras has ended in a series. And while we were initially waiting for when the announcement would come out, then when the interviews would take place, now we are in a “limbo” waiting for when it will finally be decided who will hold the artistic reins of the Theater from the beginning of the season.

The first information said that by July 10, the Board of Directors of DIPETHE Patras will be convened to make the final selection of the artistic director. In fact, as Mrs. Stamatiadou notes, she has already received many phone calls from candidates who have submitted applications who want to be informed regarding what will happen next, as their artistic professional obligations are also “running” at the same time. Let’s not forget that summer for actors, directors and theater people in general is the time when they not only work on various productions but also “close” their jobs for the winter season.

Naturally, people in the theater want to know any decision, whether positive or negative for them, so that they can plan the next season and what they will do. At the moment they are in an informal “hostage” regarding which they cannot do anything.

At the same time, this is not positive for DIPETHE itself either. Because there may not be a summer production running, except for “Exidaveloni” from Arma Thespidos, but for the planning of the winter, there should be care from earlier. And the way we see the case going, maybe eventually everything will have to be done at the last minute. Unless – we say except as malicious people – the choice has already been made and the announcement of the name is a mere formality.
