Diosdado Cabello threatens the opposition: “We know how to defend what we have achieved”

Diosdado Cabello, vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, threatened the Venezuelan opposition on Thursday. He said that the government would not sit idly by in the face of the opposition.

“We have learned and we know how to defend the country and how to defend the things we have achieved,” Cabello said at a rally in Valera, Trujillo state.

He said that on July 28, Chavismo will achieve “a great victory, a victory from start to finish.”

“Trujillo will be a key element of this great national victory, I have no doubt,” the official added.

Cabello and Maduro, the same speech

Cabello echoed of recent statements by Nicolás Maduro and accused -without proof- the opposition of generating violence. “They want the blood of the people to be spilled once more (…) the right calls for violence and calls on the sons of bitches to go out into the streets,” he said.

Cabello’s remarks coincide with Maduro’s warning of the possibility of a “bloodbath” if his supporters do not guarantee victory in the July 28 presidential elections.

“The destiny of Venezuela in the 21st century depends on our victory on July 28. If we do not want Venezuela to fall into a bloodbath, into a fratricidal civil war, the product of the fascists, let us guarantee the greatest success, the greatest victory in the electoral history of our people,” said the president during an event in La Vega, Caracas.
