Diosdado Cabello: There is no second round in Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro won here

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, said on Wednesday that the Constitution of the Republic does not establish a second round of electoral processes.

“Here in Venezuela there is no second round, the Constitution does not provide for a second round (…) There will not be a repeat election here, because Nicolás Maduro won here,” he emphasized during his program Con El Mazo Dando.

In this regard, he described the idea of a second round as “a gaffe, not to say stupid,” while reiterating to those who suggest this from abroad that they “should not get involved in Venezuela’s internal affairs.”

He reaffirmed that in Venezuela “we are not going to please the children of daddy and mommy, that is to say, the surnames, no, we are not going to please them, there is no way.”

These statements were made in response to the Brazilian government, led by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who recently stated during an interview that there are two possible solutions to the political situation in Venezuela: the formation of a coalition government or the holding of new elections.
