Since Marcus Ericsson left F1 in 2018, Sweden has longed for a new driver in Formula 1, now a successor may be on the way. Dino Beganovic now doing his second season in Formula 3, he drives for Prema and is part of Ferrari’s driver academy. His goal is to continue climbing to reach Formula 1 around the year 2026-2027, in connection with the next rule change.
But to get there he has to perform to be able to advance to the next step, Formula 2. An advantage for him is that he is no longer a debutant but has been on all tracks, he has also prepared well and finished the pre-season test with be the fastest on the final pass.
– It was of course a small bonus to finish the test at the top, but that doesn’t really mean much in itself, says Dino Beganovic.
Is Dino Beganovic the next Swede in Formula 1?
The championship consists of ten competition weekends and they are decided in connection with Formula 1. Each weekend two races are held and Beganovic, who was sixth in the debut season, took four podium places.

Dino Beganovic competes for Prema (Prema)
– It’s quite simple, to win the title. Make a good start to the season, pull away and then work on the gap. Most championships are won that way and it is important to get the language, he says.
The drivers who finished in front of him last year have advanced to Formula 2, but Dino remains. He knows what he has to improve on and is extremely motivated.
– Last year we focused a lot on the Sunday race where there are many points, but we have realized that it is just as important to score points continuously and to be on the Saturdays as well.
He started by responding fastest in qualifying and taking the season’s first pole position:
– What a start to the season, he exults.
– The car felt very good, so a big thank you to the team. We put it together when it mattered and it’s very nice to start the season like this.
