Asunción, IP Agency.- The National Directorate of Health Surveillance (Dinavisa) ordered the suspension of activities and the provisional closure of the “Laboratorio del Águila”, while the administrative summary imposed by the institution lasts due to the lack of authorization and sale of its products without having the required health registration, as well as other alleged irregular events.

Dinavisa detected the circulation and marketing of unregistered medications, manufactured by the aforementioned laboratory, during the routine inspection carried out in pharmacies in the department of Alto Paraná.

Resolution No. 155/2024 suspending activities and provisionally closing the Laboratorio del Águila establishment, gives continuity to Health Alert 4/2024 issued days ago.

This establishment does not have the current authorization and the products manufactured and divided by it lack the health records required by law for their marketing in the national territory.

Laboratory has 10 days to present a defense

After the inspection carried out by the Dinavisa Post Marketing Directorate, the information was sent to the Complaints and Interventions Directorate to continue the course of the corresponding investigation.

The director of Complaints and Interventions, Myriam Osorio, explained that until the inspection, this laboratory manufactured medications for external use, and following notifying the measures ordered, the establishment has 10 business days to present its defense.

In relation to the duration of the summary, he mentioned that it will depend on the presentations made by the summary party.

“Now you have 10 business days to present your defense (the establishment), it can be raided or you can present evidence and thus the case can be opened for trial. My management received the information from the Post Marketing Directorate,” he said.

Some of the processed and fractionated products are: rectified alcohol, tincture of iodine, hydrogen peroxide, Vaseline oil, aromatic vinegar, pure glycerin, castor oil, borated glycerin, gentian violet, valerian drops, boric alcohol, grinding liquid , magnesium chloride, lassar paste, baking soda, English salt, magnesium sulfate, penicillin ointment, mercurochrome.
