“More than nine thousand people approached the airport and approximately two thousand of them began a merciless attack once morest the Police and
these facilities using hazelnuts, weapons with a double charge of gunpowder. At the time we are writing this report, they indicate that there have been deaths of citizens and compatriots, which of course we regret, express the direct responsibility of those who want to carry out a coup in the country,” said the prime minister.

PNP denies use of firearm

The general commander of the PNP, Raúl Alfaro, indicated that the police agents, the second PNP non-commissioned officer, José Luis Soncco Quispe and the third PNP non-commissioned officer Ronald Villasante Toque, did not use their firearms when a mob approached the police vehicle. early this Tuesday morning.

“‘In the last few hours, there have been very violent attacks once morest the airport and other public institutions; and as a consequence of that, there has been a deceased police officer, non-commissioned officer Soncco Quispe (…) is the subject of investigation. [Los policías] They were reduced, they have avoided the use of their firearm when they saw that their lives were at risk. They have not used their firearm. They have left them and finally the non-commissioned officer Villasante has been able to escape from the mob”, commented the PNP commander.

Alfaro pointed out that the proceedings confirmed that the charred body next to the vehicle belonged to the petty officer Jose Luis Sonco and they will continue with the investigations of “people who are inciting indiscriminate violence, an irrational justification where there are only injuries and deaths and very large economic losses for public and State institutions.”
