Dina Boluarte presents her cabinet in Peru: former anti-corruption prosecutor will be the prime minister | International

Pedro Angulo Arana is the new head of the Council of Ministers. The presentation of the cabinet was made hours after the day of demonstrations carried out by followers of Pedro Castillo.

The President of Peru, Dina Boluartepresented his cabinet at the Government Palace, three days after the dismissal of Pedro Castillo after his failed coup.

The president was sworn in former anti-corruption prosecutor Pedro Angulo Arana as the new head of the Council of Ministers.

Angulo will replace Betssy Chávez in officethe prime minister who submitted her resignation after Castillo announced the dissolution of Congress and the installation of an emergency government.

Pedro Angulo is a lawyer by profession and, among his experiences, is his position as dean of the Lima Bar Association and former superior prosecutor, in charge of investigating cases of corruption.

Castillo supporters staged protests

Hours before the presentation of the new ministerial team, the president sent a message of calm after the protests that took place this Friday night, led by Castillo supporters.

“Respect, dialogue and tolerance are essential in a democracy. The National Police have informed me that last night there were 7 detainees, in addition to 4 civilians and 4 police officers injured in some protests. We guarantee the unrestricted fulfillment of Human Rights”indicated the president.

After introducing the ministers, Boluarte pointed out that will begin preparations to visit former President Pedro Castillowho is serving seven days in provisional prison at the National Directorate of Special Operations.
