Dilapidated house sold in one day – that’s what’s happening now

An old, run-down and empty house on Geråvej in Gerå south of Asaa has been sold – in just one day.

It was put up for sale on Facebook Marketplace at the weekend for DKK 25,000, and even though the house is unfit for habitation and needs to be demolished, there was interest in buying it.

This is according to the neighbor Alf H. Erlandsen, who had put the house up for sale online. He did this on behalf of the house’s owner, an elderly lady who has moved to a more elderly-friendly home.

The house on Geråvej is in poor condition, but was quickly sold for DKK 25,000.

About 10 people had approached Alf H. Erlandsen to hear more regarding the old house, which was built in 1900. Three of those who approached were interested in buying.

Now the house has been sold to a young craftsman, says Alf H. Erlandsen. The craftsman plans to tear down most of it and build new – with the help of his friends

– He dreams of having his own, says Alf H. Erlandsen.

Cheaper than building land

Initially, for DKK 25,000, the buyer got a plot with a dilapidated house, but with both electricity, water and sewerage.

– If you buy a building plot that is ready for construction with electricity, water and sewerage, it cannot be obtained for less than DKK 100,000, according to Alf H. Erlandsen.

He says that the elderly lady just wanted to get rid of the old house, and she is relieved that the house was sold.

Five empty houses

There may also be relief in the small village community of Gerå, where five houses stand empty, of which at least two are in such bad condition that they are uninhabitable and need to be demolished.

With the sale of the old, blue house on Geråvej, there is now one less of the empty houses in the village of around 200 citizens.
