“Dijon JDA dominates Limoges in Leaders Cup quarter-final victory”

Dijon can dream of the double. Holder of the Leaders Cup title after his coronation in February 2020 at Disneyland Paris, the JDA easily cleared the Limoges obstacle on Friday in the quarter-finals (83-65). Supported by a room won over to their cause in Saint-Chamond, and more and more filled over the quarters, Nenad Markovic’s players only trembled at the start of the match.

Led by their captain Nicolas Lang (15 points, 5 rebounds), the Limougeauds made the first break (4-12, 4th). But the first Dijon rotations changed everything. Uncertain (finger), David Holston (13 points, 4 assists) held his place and his entry, with that of Gregor Hrovat, tipped the match. The Slovenian winger passed 12 points in two minutes at the CSP, alternating award-winning shots and free throws, to put the JDA in the lead (20-13, 8th).

Cancellieri ruled out before half time

Without success in attack and much too messy (24 loss of balls!), Limoges was amputated from his coach before halftime. Massimo Cancellieri, furious at an offensive foul whistled against Javontae Hawkins, was penalized with a first technical foul, then a second a few seconds later, synonymous with a premature return to the locker room.

Led by 14 points at the break (48-34, 20th), the CSP nibbled away at the start of the third quarter, but a new award-winning basket from Hrovat, elected man of the match (23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 interceptions) then an alley-oop from the Slovenian for Markis McDuffie put the Limoges headers back under water (58-43, 27th), for good. First qualified for the semi-finals, Dijon will challenge the winner of Monaco-Bourg (3:30 p.m.) for a place in the final.
