There is an emergency! The mayor of Dignes-les-Bains, Patricia Granet-Brunello, has issued a municipal decree urging the state to recruit 11 doctors through the Regional Health Service (ARS) to deal with the regulatory and partial closure of emergency services in some areas. town.

His decision follows emergencies in the region, which are severely understaffed, especially in Digne-les-Bains, where patients have to be supervised, and which have been “regularly closed” for a year and a half. Manosk.

Finding solutions is imperative

Patricia Grane-Brunello stressed the importance of finding solutions to prevent the situation from becoming more serious. “Our situation is critical, but it must not become more critical. Therefore, prevention today means finding solutions to get back on track,” she declared.

In adopting the decree, the mayor was inspired by the precedent of the mayors of the Côte d’Amore-Maritimes department, who took similar measures in June to protest the worsening access to health services in the region.

Fine of €1,000 per day

Like the Mayor of Côte d’Armor, Patricia Granet-Brunello included in her decree a clause providing for a fine of €1,000 per day if the implementation of the required measures is delayed. While performing her duties as mayor, she also works as an allergist at the Digne-les-Bains hospital and laments the development of France’s medical services.

“In France we have excellent medicine and we are lucky to have made great progress. But ultimately it is falling apart in the face of the fact that we are no longer able to properly care for patients: it is catastrophic,” she said.

What will be the consequences?

We now have to wait for the state’s response, since the département d’Armore-Maritimes submitted the mayor’s decree to the Administrative Court of Rennes on 23 August. The Alpes-Haute-Provence department has two months to submit the order to the Administrative Court of Marseille.

Patricia Grane-Brunello said she would not be troubled by a similar appeal to the administrative justice branch of her order. “The most important thing is that we finally realize that the health situation in France is deteriorating and that we need to make changes. »
