Digital Foundry: The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 5 has better draw distance than on Xbox Series X

The authors of technical analysis of games from Digital Foundry tested the updated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt на PlayStation 5 и Xbox Series X.

The experts found that Sony console version boasts better draw distance in performance and ray tracing modes.

In particular, it turned out that there is a big difference in draw distance between the two platforms, especially for foliage. In the PS5 remaster, the plants are rendered much farther than in the XSX, making areas of the world in the distance look more empty on the Microsoft console.

To clarify, the actual foliage density on consoles when rendered is identical, however on PS5 the render distance is set to a higher value.

The next-gen version of The Witcher 3 was released on December 14 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. CD Projekt RED is also currently working on a new trilogy of The Witcher and a full remake of the first part. Molasses Flood, which joined CD Projekt in 2021, is also working on a spin-off, codenamed Project Sirius.
