The musician’s house on his estate in Varnavas burned down completely. The only thing that was saved was the small church of Agios Nikolaos, which was maintained by Yiannis Zouganelis within his estate, in memory of his father Nikolaos.
The house destroyed by the fire was not the permanent residence of the artist, but he spent several days of the year there with his family and loved ones. Along with the building, many of his musical works, scores, 50 years of work, as well as works of art were lost.

He himself, describing the amount of material damage suffered at tlife, emphasized: “The house has been completely destroyed. My personal works, scores, 50 years ago were destroyed, a work by Fotis Kontoglou, the “Saints Anargyros”, an excellent work. Stupid me for not getting it. Once upon a time, I kind of suspected that this might happen. It wasn’t my permanent home, but I spent many hours of the year there, getting to know the environment, renewing the environment. I used to have animals there. That’s where I understood what nature means.”
His daughter, Eleonora Zouganelis, remained silent and contented herself with writing in her post on Instagram: “How much more…”
