The hopes for the first title in 58 years were dampened when the cup semifinals were drawn. On the way to the final in Klagenfurt on May 1st, LASK has to jump the Sturm Graz hurdle away from home.
The Styrians defeated Salzburg on penalties in the quarter-finals away from home. “When a team eliminates Salzburg away from home, you have to give them respect,” said LASK trainer Dietmar Kühbauer regarding the current cup favorites.
Away win in the Bundesliga duel
The memories of the most recent appearance in Graz give a little confidence: LASK won 1-0 in the fall. Kühbauer: “If you get that far, you want to go to the final and win the cup.” The semi-finals will take place on April 4th, 5th or 6th.
