DIEUDONNE – Comedian Dieudonné may have been banned from going on stage in Lyon, but that didn’t stop him from doing his show. The controversial artist was able to perform on Saturday August 19 in a field, in Décines, in the Lyon metropolis.

According to The Parisianthose who had bought their tickets on the internet for the show received an SMS around 6:15 p.m. revealing the meeting place: “7:30 p.m., 265 avenue Jean-Monnet, Bron. Provide chairs. Instructions ». Later, a new address was communicated in a field in Décines. According to Progressless than a hundred people attended the performance.

Thursday, August 17, the town hall of Lyon signed an order prohibiting a show by the comedian scheduled for Saturday in the city, announced the community and the Rhône prefecture in a press release published Thursday.

A “deep concern”

This decision, taken “in order to guarantee respect for public order”, came the day following a similar decision by the mayor of Toulouse. Performances of this same show, titled « Sous bracelet » have already been banned in other cities, including Montpellier and Paris.

The city of Lyon recalls that Dieudonné was the subject of “numerous criminal convictions for having made Holocaust denial speeches, inciting racial hatred or advocating terrorism”.

Tuesday evening in a press release, the CRIF Auvergne Rhône-Alpes had expressed its “deep concern regarding upcoming performances” in Lyon de Dieudonné, one scheduled for this Saturday, the other in December, and called on the mayor of the city to “act responsibly”.

Several performances are scheduled in August, according to the Dieudonné site, as in Grenoble or Auxerre.

Since 2002, Dieudonné has been the subject of numerous legal proceedings. In particular, he was sentenced in September 2020 to a fine of 10,000 euros for racist remarks made in June 2017 during his show on “Quenelles Ball”.
