“It’s almost crazy. My team always manages to surprise me,” says Dietach coach Daniel Ruttensteiner. The team from Steyr-Land’s high flight continues: in 2022, the green-blacks won the championship title in the East Regional League, and in the following seasons they ended up in third and second place in the state’s highest league. According to the current autumn season, Dietach is even at the top. Is the Ruttensteiner team now interested in even more? “We can assess the situation well and are under no pressure to come first.”
Ruttensteiner is expecting a duel in the spring – you can get a little foretaste of it next Saturday at the end of the fall at home against second-placed Friedburg: “I see Friedburg on an equal footing with us, they have an incredible breadth in the squad. I think Dietach and Friedburg “We could have a duel for first place in the spring.”
If the 34-year-old has his way, he wants to tackle the race for the championship plate with an unchanged squad: “It makes me proud to be the coach of this team. I also want to compete in the spring with the same team.” Maybe then another chapter will be written in Dietach’s fairy tale…
