Two-time champion of the USSR Alexander Vedenin died at the age of 75.
This was announced by the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR). The causes of death were not specified.
Vedenin twice won the championship of the Soviet Union (1963 and 1965) in single skating, became the bronze medalist of the USSR Cup (1969). After his retirement, he worked as a coach for the national team, as well as a technical specialist.
“The Russian Figure Skating Federation expresses its deep condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Alexander Dmitrievich Vedenin.
His professionalism, clear citizenship, ability to defend his point of view, responsiveness and respect for athletes and coaches are an example to follow.
The memory of this wonderful athlete, coach and person will remain in our hearts,” the FFKR said in a statement.
