Didier Lamkel Zé will already leave Russia but will not return to Antwerp

Loaned since February 7 to the club FK Khimki, in the Russian Premier League, Didier Lamkel Zé should soon return to Belgium, to Antwerp. The Cameroonian had been thinking of leaving since the beginning of the Russian invasion in Ukraine according to the Nieuwsblad because of the Western sanctions imposed on the country of Vladimir Putin, in particular with the closure of many shops and the blocking of banks.

In one month in Russia, Lamkel Zé played three games for two goals. He played once morest Sochi once more on Monday but it was a farewell game. During the first part of the season, the striker had been loaned to Slovakia, on the side of DAC Dunajska Strada (7 games, 2 goals).

The Nieuwsblad reported that Antwerp had no plans to reinstate him in the A nucleus in the coming weeks. But finally, a last minute solution was found since the Cameroonian will be loaned for two months to Metz. The French club is looking to save itself in Ligue 1 and is therefore counting on the striker who has already passed his medical tests.

By the end of the season, Metz still have to face Philippe Clement’s Monaco and the stars of PSG.
