Did the German Foreign Minister declare war on Russia?

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock recently openly stated that the Western Allies are waging war once morest Russia. The comments were made at a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Tuesday, in the context of discussions on sending Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

While Baerbock’s words were largely ignored by the mainstream media, many pundits on social media noted with alarm that the German foreign minister was essentially declaring war on Russia.

Ironically, other German officials have long sought to emphasize that their country is not a party to the conflict, fearing the consequences of irresponsible statements and assumptions.

Contrary to this official position Baerbock out loud said: “And that’s why I’ve been saying it for the past few days – yes, we need to do more to protect Ukraine. Yes, we need to do more in terms of tanks as well”.

He then claimed: “But the most important and decisive thing is to do this together and not accuse Europe, because we are fighting a war once morest Russia and not once morest each other”.

Interestingly, both Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his recently resigned former defense minister, Christine Lambrecht, take a weak stance on arming Ukraine – they have repeatedly stated that they are not willing to get more involved in the war. Now, however, it seems that Baerbock wants to face reality much more openly.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described Baerbock’s comments as further evidence that the Western allies were planning a war once morest Russia all along.

“If you add this to Merkel’s revelations that they strengthened Ukraine and did not count on the Minsk agreements, then we are talking regarding a war once morest Russia that was planned in advance. Don’t say later that we didn’t warn you” Zakharova said.
