In 2004 came out one of the greatest peplums of modern cinema, Sluts. A 5-star cast including Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean and Diane Kruger. We might have saluted the casting director for having unearthed such a team, but when we hear the confessions of the actress, this man had a totally inappropriate behavior.
Coming from the modeling world, Diane Kruger had already met men who abused their situation, as on the casting for the film Sluts. “I remember doing tryouts for ‘Troy’ and having to go to the head of the studio in costume, she starts before confessing, I felt like a piece of meat, people looked at me up and down and asked, ‘Why do you think you should play this role?’”
The German-American actress, however, did not want to give the name of the casting director. She then evokes the inappropriate moment: “I was put in such inappropriate and uncomfortable situations.”
So much so that the actress thought it was a generality among casting directors. “I fell on the Weinsteins of this world from my beginnings. When I started, I felt like it was. That was what Hollywood looked like. I come from modeling and believe me, they do that too”.
Diane Kruger then spoke of another misadventure with a well-known director, Quentin Tarantino for the casting ofInglourious Basterds. According to the actress, Tarantino refused to meet the actress he saw in a movie he didn’t like. She then paid for her ticket herself to go to the casting in Germany.
“I was given a chance because there was no one left to audition”, she specifies before showing her determination. “So I had to go through all these steps that knocked me off my feet, but I was like, ‘You know what, fuck him. I’m going to do it and prove to him that I can do it'”.
