Diagnosed too late with monkeypox, his nose began to rot

Monkey pox is currently rife throughout the world, particularly in Germany, the third most affected country following the United States and Spain.

A 40-year-old German has just paid the price. And the least we can write is that it was particularly arranged.

His case was reported in the scientific journal Infection. It all started with a redness on the nose. The German went to a doctor who was unconcerned and sent him home, thinking it was sunburn.

But the reality was different. Three days later, the individual’s nose began to necrotize, turning black (see photo below). The rest of her body also started showing white blisters full of pus.

At the hospital, tests revealed that he had monkeypox. But that’s not all: further examinations also led to the verdict that he was suffering from syphilis and… HIV.

It is also because of AIDS, which had not been diagnosed in the past, that his case of monkey pox deteriorated in this way, with the necrosis of the nose.

However, health experts explain that this is a very rare case. “Most cases of monkeypox infection have so far been reported as mild, and HIV infection if controlled does not appear to be a risk factor for serious course. However, this case illustrates the potential severity of monkeypox infection in the setting of severe infection, immunosuppression and untreated HIV infection”says the journal Infection.
