If there was a lot of controversy around Diablo IV, Activision Blizzard seems to want to please fans with the announcement of an extension per year.
The announcement comes from Rod Fergusson, head of the Diablo franchise: the latest installment in the saga of hack and slash will be the subject of an annual expansion. An ambitious project, but in line with Activision Blizzard studios, regarding to merge with Microsoft.
Unlike its predecessors, Diablo IV is a game that can only be played online, which has not been without causing some problems: disconnections, loss of data… So many criticisms once morest which the announcement of this project of annual extensions may appear as a desire to restore the game’s image.
But while the game will already be the subject of quarterly seasons and regular updates, the addition of annual expansions seems like an extremely ambitious project, and it is difficult to know if Activision Blizzard will manage to maintain the rhythm while ensuring quality content for players.
It also remains to be seen whether the latter are ready to get their hands on the wallet annually for these DLCs…
