After three years of absence, Blizzard is relaunching its flagship event in Anaheim, BlizzCon, with many new features for its video game fans.
From our special correspondent, in Anaheim (California).
Fans have been waiting impatiently, video game publisher Blizzard returns with new announcements. After three years of absence, he is relaunching his annual event: BlizzCon. For two days, thousands of fans will walk the aisles of the Convention Center in Anaheim, near Los Angeles. Massed in front of the main stage, the audience is hanging on the lips of Blizzard representatives. The publisher’s president, Mike Ybarra, gives the introduction to this new edition. He announces a mystery guest, who is none other than Phil Spencer, who manages the video games sector at Microsoft. If this is his first BlizzCon, his arrival is symbolic, only a few weeks following the validation of the acquisition of Activision by the IT giant.
The conference then continues with representatives of the Overwatch game, who reveal a 39th character available to players: Mauga. On one of the publisher’s flagship licenses, Diablo IV, released last June, players will now have access to a new expansion of the game: Vessel of Hatred. The room is now shaking for the announcements around Warcraft, one of Blizzard’s oldest licenses. For John Hight, general manager of Warcraft«today is a big day» for video games. He thus affirms that a new chapter is opening for the next thirty years.

Three new expansions for Warcraft
In World of Warcraft Classic, certain elements will experience a revival, such as reimagined bosses or new rewards. Release scheduled for November 30. Chris Metzen, executive creative director of World of Warcraft, now takes the stage, with a delirious audience. He announces the Worldsoul saga, which will take place over several expansions, “over the next few years“. Instead of just one usual expansion announcement, Chris Metzen announces three: The War Within, Midnight and The Last Titan.
These announcements were eagerly awaited by fans, following the announcement of the acquisition of Blizzard by Microsoft. This marriage, at 69 billion dollars, will allow the video game publisher to begin a new era, following complicated years. The company had not received the enthusiasm of players for these latest games and was notably accused of turning a blind eye to acts of sexual harassment within the group. A new chapter is therefore opening for Microsoft and Blizzard, and promises many new developments in the video games sector.
