The open beta of the role-playing game Diablo IV takes place in mid-March for pre-orders and at the end of March for everyone. So it was high time that Blizzard made information about the system requirements. These are comparatively moderate, older processors and graphics cards are also possible.
Minimum Requirements for Diablo IV Beta
According to Blizzard, the minimum requirements apply to a native 1080p resolution, but the game is only rendered in 720p. In order to then achieve around 30 FPS in low details, the following components should be at least necessary. On the CPU side, an approximately 11-year-old AMD FX-8100 from the Zambezi family with 8 “cores” of the less than glorious Bulldozer architecture is specified. Alternatively, a slightly older Intel Core i5-2500K is mentioned, which beat the AMD counterpart at the time with four full cores of the Sandy Bridge architecture.
With an AMD Radeon R9 280 or a GeForce GTX 660, two graphics cards from 2014 and 2012 are named, which have 3 GB and 2 GB of video memory respectively.
At least 8 GB of RAM and 45 GB of mass storage are required for storage. Here it should already be an SSD for the minimum. The loading times in particular should suffer from a slower HDD.
A footnote to the minimum requirements points out that Diablo IV will not necessarily fail even on slower systems with a dual-core CPU, HDD or integrated GPU. However, the gaming experience couldsignificantly reduced” be.
Recommendations for 1080p with 60 FPS
For a render resolution of 1080p with medium details and 60 FPS, Blizzard recommends somewhat more up-to-date and correspondingly faster quad-core CPUs of the type AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or Intel Core i5-4670K, but these are by no means state-of-the-art.
With the Radeon RX 470, a six-year-old Polaris GPU with at least 4GB is recommended. Alternatively, the GeForce GTX 970 with “4 GB” is in the table. The fact that the GTX 970 actually only offered 3.5 GB of sufficiently fast connected memory was a big scandal at the time.
While nothing changes in terms of mass storage, twice as much RAM is recommended at 16 GB. In any case, at least Windows 10 in the 64-bit version and DirectX 12 are required on the software side. An internet connection is also a must.
