We’ve heard of the rabbit’s foot before, but did you know that another rodent brings so much luck to Diablo IV players? In any case, this is what this completely crazy new theory seems to say.

Follow the rats

If you’ve ever played a Diablo or any hack’n’slash in your life, you know that this type of game revolves a lot around the luck in the equipment that can be found over its course. adventures. After completing the campaign, the goal of the game becomes neither more nor less than becoming the best equipped possible by chaining dungeons and other activities to loot always more objects. But while we easily end up inundated with objects as weak as they are useless, it is particularly rare to come across the Holy Grail: equipment that is perfectly optimized for your build.

So, like any card or slot machine player in a casino, Diablo players often end up forming theories or other rumors about ways to force their luck. Recently, the canvas ignited about one of them, particularly effective according to those who tested it.

As often on the Internet, it all started with a simple post on Reddit, posted by user zerger45. On the latter (cumulating no less than 8500 positive feedback), the player wrote:

Follow the rats.
Okay, this is going to sound very weird, but you have to follow the rats to find good loot. Don’t follow pre-determined paths in the dungeons, just follow the rats. Rats smell like cheese! I assure you it’s true and I feel like I’m crazy but I found several legendary gear by doing this for 10 minutes. The rats will tell you which packs of enemies to take down, and then they’ll move on to where you need to go! It’s true and I’m not crazy! FOLLOW THE RATS

As a result of this post, many Diablo players have started to follow this outlandish advice and follow the rats that are sometimes found in the hallways of the game’s dungeons. Also on reddit, they then posted their photo finds in support, thus feeding the alleged veracity of this theory. The user iloveobjects for example posted a screenshot of his Ring of Mendeln, a particularly rare and useful piece of equipment for all Necromancers. He then said:

I followed the rats.
I searched for this ring for two days straight chaining through nightmare dungeons, ring boxes, hellwave chests, and I read this post about rats and tracked a few rats and l ring appeared on the fifteenth monster.

You shouldn’t believe all the animals… or everything you read on the Internet

Be careful though, while many players seem to want to follow this theory to the letter, others have wanted to take it a step further by following other normally harmless animals like small snakes. Unfortunately for them, the latter do not seem to have the hollow noses of the rats.

I saw two rats but they didn’t lead me to any loot. I started to have doubts. I saw a snake so I followed the snake, the snake was mean it was a trap that led me to a dead end. I’m sorry I doubted the holy rats, it won’t happen again.

Don’t forget: FUCK THE SNAKES DON’T TRUST THEM they work for the government!! Preach the good word don’t let them silence the truth of the rats!!!!!

As you will have understood, if this theory is particularly funny and seems to have worked for (too) many players, nothing really indicates that following the rats does not really lead to more quality loot. Of course, nothing prevents you from trying it yourself… But watch out for snakes.
