With the first season of Diablo IVthe players had the opportunity to create new characters, who alone have access to seasonal servers. Their basic character, who has become “Eternal”, does not have the possibility of participating on these servers, nor of recovering objects specific to the season.
However, for a few weeks now, some players have been using one of the oldest cheating techniques in the history of video games: unplug your internet connection.
A big wave of cheaters on the first season of Diablo IV
Respect the rules isn’t really on everyone’s agenda, and some players didn’t hesitate for a second to use a very old hack to speed up their progress at the start of Diablo IV’s first season.
Indeed, some clever little ones have found how cross the gap between seasonal character and eternal character.
This bug exploit was relatively easy to set up : a normal character had to group up with a seasonal character, disconnect their internet connection, and when they reconnect, the normal character would be transferred on the seasonal servers.
The biggest problem with this use-bug is obviously that it allowed some players drastically accelerate the speed at which they progressed l’early game of the season, but also to use seasonal equipment on a normal character.
A big abuse that was brought up by many angry players, and which did not take long to reach the ears of Blizzard.
Mass bans for Diablo IV cheaters
It’s on the official Blizzard forums. that Adam Fletcher announced that the company had fixed the problem and that cheaters would not get away with it so easily.
“I just wanted to let everyone know that this issue was resolved a few days ago in our latest patch and has not been present in the game since. We have also taken action on some accounts related to this incident. Thank you all for bringing this issue to our attention.”
