If we can agree on one point regarding Diablo IV, it’s that Patch 1.1.0 didn’t just make people happy. On the contrary, he dissatisfied a large part of the fans in many points, so much so that some even chose to throw in the towel despite Season 1 in progress. It was however without counting on the arrival of a new patch aimed at restoring a little the image of Hack’n’Slash of Blizzard with the fans. But will that be enough?
Lots of enemies for maximum fun in Diablo 4
In Diablo, and especially Diablo III, there was a particularly exhilarating feeling of being able to run non-stop with hordes of demonic creatures chasing you. We know the end result: the player turned around and caused absolutely monumental carnage. It is this vision of Hack’n’Slash that some Diablo fans have.
However, in the fourth main installment of the franchise things have changed a lot. Instead of their good old habits, almost a bit sadistic, the players found themselves in a game where the groups of creatures were generally quite small and above all very spaced out from each other. The main consequence is that you have to run for a while, or even even ride a horse to hope to come across another group of monsters, leading to some disappointment, even frustration for the most extreme.
Fortunately, Patch 1.1.1 recently deployed on Diablo IV offers a whole new approach to what is called “creature density”. Concretely, since Tuesday, August 8, 2023, there have been a lot more creatures in the Nightmare dungeons and the Infernal Waves, a highly anticipated feature accompanied by an increase in the hit points of the bosses, and even improvements in terms of loot (to be found on the official press release):
“We are increasing the density of monsters in Nightmare Dungeons as well as Hellwaves. Beyond level 60, the bosses will have more hit points. Examples: Until level 60, the bosses will remain unchanged.
Level 80 bosses have their hit points increased by 50%.
Level 100 bosses have their hit points increased by 100%.
Level 120 bosses have their hit points increased by 120%.
Starting at level 150, bosses have their hit points increased by 150%.”
Diablo 4 fans still wary
Unfortunately, despite this excellent news for fans of huge groups of creatures to destroy, some fans remain puzzled. The trend is indeed distrust of Blizzard, which is accused of not wanting to let its players enjoy its games, Diablo IV in particular, because of the choices made by the publisher since the game’s release. .
Thus, some come to think that they “better play fast and make the most of it before the drop rate is reduced to compensate for the increase in creature density“. A fear which is understandable, but nothing has been indicated in this direction for the moment on the side of the editor. Others complain on the contrary of the presence of more creatures because they die more, and that the gain in experience remains too low for their liking.
It remains to be seen what Blizzard intends to do with these recent changes. Should we expect a nerf to the drop rate of legendary items because of the high density of creatures? Can we expect an increase in experience gain? At the moment, nothing seems to be going either way with Patch 1.1.2 scheduled for August 15th!
