Diabetes prevention week: ssbe.re, a website to fight sedentary lifestyle

The regional Sport Health Well Being label, SSBE, makes it possible to offer a health sport niche to all types of audiences, with or without pathology, on a dedicated website. Objective, to fight once morest the sedentary lifestyle of Reunionese while the diabetes prevention week ends on September 30.

Soft volleyball, aquatic activities, zumba, gymnastics, muscle strengthening, martial arts or outdoor activities are all activities offered on the site. ssbe.reall over the island.

Created in 2017 by ARS and DRAJES, the regional academic delegation for youth, engagement and sports, this SSBE label aims to promote health and well-being through physical and sporting activity. .

Move better to fight diabetes

The objective is to fight once morest the sedentary lifestyle which deteriorates the health of Reunionese. In effect, 16% of the population suffers from obesity in the island. And although their genetic origin is different, obesity and diabetes are two very related diseases. Indeed, obesity is the first risk factor for diabetes and 80% of obese people have diabetes.

Thus, on the ssbe.re site, 494 labeled health sport slots have been listed to date, supported by associations, communities and companies. The complete directory of labeled slots will be available on October 15, 2022. But you can already find activities offered by city that meet the quality criteria and the safety of practices.

The slots offered can accommodate more than 5,600 beneficiaries, i.e. between 10 and 15 beneficiaries per session.

This website is dedicated to people who wish to get back to physical activity in a simple way with the aim of pleasure and conviviality, and who have no medical contraindications. There are currently 327 “sport for all” slots to which they can register.

It is also intended for people with a chronic pathology, risk factors or loss of autonomy. They can be referred by health professionals with a medical prescription. Specific “sport on prescription” slots, currently 167, can thus be reserved on the site.

Seniors, children, pregnant women, chronically ill or even Mr. Mrs. everyone can register.

Physical activity is a determining factor in an individual’s state of health. It is particularly indicated for people suffering from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or obesity.

However, in Reunion, 76% of the population declare less than 30 minutes of walking or bicycle per day. 14% of Reunionese say they have no physical activity.

And of those who engage in physical activity, men are twice as likely to do so as women.
