However, thanks to scientific advances, it is possible that there will soon be a cure for the disease.

In the case of our country, the General Hospital of Mexico is replicating this study with the Mexican population to determine if it is effective and diabetes has a cure, according to TV hole.

One of the findings of the study is that patients who have the disease must strictly adhere to treatment for a long time. Among the changes they have to make is a strict diet and physical activity.

In addition, Dr. Santa Quiñones, a specialist in Internal Medicine, pointed out that bariatric surgery is one of the cures for diabetes; however, it is not 100 percent effective.

Bariatric surgery is often used to help a person with obesity reduce their weight. It is usually recommended in patients for whom other treatments have not worked and have serious health problems, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Some studies show that this surgical process helps eliminate diabetes from the body in the long term, but it is not a recommended method and is not presented as the definitive cure by specialists.

Diabetes is the second cause of death in Mexico, ranking below heart disease. The Inegi reported that during 2022 it caused 115,681 deaths. The mortality rate was 89.4 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants.

The entity that registered the highest mortality rate from diabetes was Veracruz, with 127.4 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants, while the lowest was Baja California Sur, with 45.8 deaths.
