Barcelona, September 4, 2024. Dia joins Unilever and Bosquia in a new collaboration that reinforces its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. From September 4 to 24, for every product from Unilever’s clothing care brands (Mimosín and Skip) purchased in any Dia store in the country, a tree will be planted in degraded areas in Spain. This joint action seeks to combat climate change and restore affected ecosystems.
365 trees, covering an area equivalent to half a football field
The campaign will be carried out in more than 2,300 Dia stores throughout Spain and will be linked to the Mimosín and Skip brands, belonging to the leading multinational in consumer products. Thanks to this initiative, Bosquia, a company dedicated to reforestation projects, will plant a total of 365 native trees, one for each day of the year, covering an area of half a hectare, the equivalent of half a football field.
This initiative is part of Unilever’s sustainability roadmap, which has as one of its objectives the protection and restoration of 1 million natural ecosystems by 2030. At the same time, Dia reaffirms its commitment to local communities, promoting concrete actions that benefit both the environment and the people who live in the areas near its stores.
A purchase with purpose
This campaign shows that every small action can contribute to the fight against climate change. “At Dia, our collaboration with manufacturers is key to offering a wide range where the customer chooses. Joining Unilever and Bosquia allows us to contribute, through our network of more than 2,300 stores, to a more sustainable environment, with initiatives as relevant as this one that contribute to generating a positive impact on our society,” commented Pilar Hermida, Chief Communication & Sustainability Officer at Grupo Dia.
For its part, Ana Palencia, Director of Sustainability and Communication at Unilever Spain, He stated: “At Unilever, we believe in the responsibility of businesses to lead the way towards a more sustainable future. The collaboration with Dia and Bosquia is a clear example of how such a simple joint action can make a big difference in protecting the planet. With it, we want to inspire more companies and consumers to join this collective effort and show that together we can tackle climate change and contribute to a healthier world.”
Francisco del Cid, founder of Bosquia, added: “Since Bosquia was founded, we have planted more than 350,000 trees, offsetting more than 50,000 tons of CO2. This would not have been possible without the involvement of companies like Unilever and Dia. The collaboration of these companies is crucial to promoting sustainable practices on a large scale, as their commitment not only drives reforestation and ecosystem restoration, but also inspires other organizations to adopt environmentally responsible initiatives.”
The joint action by Unilever, Bosquia and Dia supermarkets represents an important step forward in corporate responsibility initiatives, showing how a collaborative approach can amplify the positive impact on the environment. This alliance not only reinforces the brands’ commitment to sustainability, but also encourages consumers to make more conscious purchases and become agents of change in protecting the planet.
