Di Giannantonio added his first victory in MotoGP and Bagnaia increased the lead as leader

The Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio, with Ducati, achieved his first victory in a MotoGP motorcycle race this followingnoon, by winning the Qatar Grand Prix, while his compatriot, Francesco Bagnaia, with a unit of the same brand, finished second and increased his lead as the tournament leader.

Di Giannantonio, with the number 49 machine, took advantage of better performance in the final stretch of the 22 laps and overtook Peco Bagnaia, who had started in the lead at the Lusail racetrack.

The 25-year-old Roman pilot obtained his first victory in the Queen category, following 39 performances, with a total time of 41m. 43s. 654/1000.

Bagnaia, current champion, finished second at 2s. 734/1000 and increased his difference as the championship leader, to 21 points over the Spanish Jorge Martín (Ducati).

The third place corresponded to the also Italian Luca Marini (Ducati), who arrived at 4s. 408/1000.

The Spanish Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) finished in fourth place, 4s behind. 488/1000; South African Brad Binder (KTM) finished fifth, 7s behind. 246/1000 and the also Hispanic Alex Márquez (Ducati) was sixth, at 7s. 620/1000.

Further behind were the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), the Italian Enea Bastianini (Ducati), the Australian Jack Miller (KTM) and the Madrid-born Martín (Ducati), who had problems with the rear tire of his motorcycle.

Once the first 19 requirements of the tournament have been met, Bagnaia remains the leader with 437 points, followed by Martín, with 416.

Then there are Marco Bezzecchi (Italy/Ducati) with 326 units; Binder (KTM), 268; Johann Zarco (France/Ducati), 204; Aleix Espargaró (Spain/Aprilia), 198.

The twentieth date on the calendar will take place next weekend, between Friday the 24th and Sunday the 26th, at the Ricardo Tormo racetrack in the Valencian Community, in Spain.
