CASES of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Garut Regency, West Java, continue to experience a sharp increase. As of Wednesday, April 3 2024, there were 735 dengue fever patients in Garut, with 1 person dying.

Head of the Garut District Health Service, Leli Yuliani, said that dengue cases that occurred in his area since the beginning of January, February and March had increased significantly. The increase reached almost four times compared to the same period in 2023, namely 195 cases.

“In an effort to suppress the spread of disease caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, the Garut District Health Service is taking various preventive steps. One of them is promoting larvae-free rates (ABJ) by encouraging people to drain water reservoirs, close water reservoirs and recycle items. which might become a breeding ground for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito,” he said, Wednesday (3/4).

Leli said that the increase in dengue fever cases in Garut continues to increase with the rainy season and many are still found in breeding places for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (larvae) in residential areas. Because of this, 3M Plus activities continue to be carried out simultaneously with fogging.

“We carry out an epidemiological investigation on every case found directly to the location of the dengue patient’s house, to search for additional cases and a rapid assessment (Rapid Assessment) of the condition of the home and surrounding environment to determine the infectious vector,” he said.

According to him, his party will continue to carry out epidemiological investigations on every case found directly to the location of the dengue patient’s home, as well as providing rapid test consumable medical materials (BHMP) as a rapid diagnostic, namely RDT DBD Combo in all health facilities.

“We will massively educate the public regarding the danger signs of dengue fever so that they can immediately report or access health facilities and remind the public massively regarding the danger signs (or) warning signs of dengue fever such as continuous vomiting, abdominal pain, nosebleeds, bleeding. gums, skin and high fever to immediately report or access health facilities,” he stressed.
