DIRECTOR for Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Imran Pambudi explained that the increase in dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases was the same as the increase in cases in 2022.
Therefore, to reduce cases and death rates, the central and regional governments ensure that beds are fulfilled, weekly reports and promotions are carried out in each household.
“We have made a circular to all health agencies regarding dengue fever awareness. We always provide feedback reports every month. Then we also monitor the availability of hospital beds and medication for dengue fever before Eid is still safe,” said Imran when contacted, Tuesday (16/4).
Apart from that, he also said that the increase in dengue cases was always the same at the beginning of every year because of the transition period.
“It usually increases at the beginning of the year. Conditions at the beginning of the year always tend to see an increase in cases for 2024, which is the same as the number of deaths in 2022. However, we have not received any reports regarding the shortage/emergency of dengue fever in the regions,” he said.
It is known that the total number of dengue fever cases in 2022 will reach 143 thousand cases with a total of 1,236 deaths. Meanwhile, cumulatively in 2023 there will be 114,720 cases with 894 deaths.
In the 15th week of 2024, there were 62,001 cases of dengue fever reported with 475 deaths from 454 districts/cities in 34 provinces. Meanwhile, deaths due to dengue occurred in 151 districts/cities in 28 provinces. (Iam)
