THE prospective independent gubernatorial candidate for DKI Jakarta, Dharma Pongrekun, revealed the reason for his three failed summonses from the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) regarding the alleged use of residents’ ID cards as a condition for support.

According to Dharma, he and his partner, Kun Wardana, were busy going back and forth to the court to take care of the files that would be attached when registering today, Thursday (29/8). In addition, he also admitted that he had to undergo therapy in Bandung, West Java.

“Regarding absence, we have a reason, because we have to take care of quite a lot of requirements and with limited time we have to go back and forth to the court,” he said at the DKI Jakarta KPU Office, Thursday (29/8).

“And I myself had problems, so I had two days of therapy in Bandung so that there was no other intention. And that is the fact that happened,” continued Dharma.

He said that regarding the process forwarded by Bawaslu to Polda Metro Jaya, his party would hand it over to the legal team.

Meanwhile, lawyer and Head of the Dharma-Kun Success Team, Kamaruddin Simanjuntak, said that his party did not know at all why so many residents’ ID cards were used as a condition for support.

“But what we get is pure support for Mr. Dharma and his deputy. So if there are those who say they don’t support us, but their ID cards are there, well that’s the business of the KPU and Bawaslu,” said Kamaruddin.

The Head of the DKI Jakarta Bawaslu, Munandar Nugraha, said that his party concluded that the public report regarding the use of ID cards by Dharma-Kun did not fulfill the elements of Article 185A paragraph (1) and Article 185 B of Law Number 10/2016 concerning Regional Elections.

However, Bawaslu DKI forwarded the case to Polda Metro Jaya regarding alleged crimes against the Law on Protection of Personal Data and the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions as well as the Criminal Code.

The DKI Jakarta KPU has determined that the support collected by the Dharma-Kun party is sufficient to advance as a prospective candidate pair for governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta, namely 677,065 people out of the minimum requirement of 618,968 people.

During the verification process of the support requirements, the DKI Jakarta KPU stated that 870,922 support requirements collected by Dharma-Kun did not meet the requirements. (P-5)
