Artist Dhafer El Abidine said that the character of “Dr. Hashem” in the movie “A Nose and Three Eyes” differs from the version of “Mahmoud Yassin in 1972 because the social situation is different and the relationships and traditions have changed, as men’s relationships with women have changed, and naturally the movie is different.”

He added during an interview on the “Last Word” program presented by media personality Lamis Al-Hadidi on the ON screen: “But the spirit and problems of romantic relationships are present in the film.”

He stated that he was not worried regarding the comparison between him and the great artist Mahmoud Yassin, saying: “The 2024 scenario is different and does not make comparison possible, and the great artist Mahmoud Yassin cannot be compared to anyone. He is one of the most important stars of Egyptian cinema, his stature and his career are clear.”

He explained: “The spirit of the novel exists as a spirit and structure, and the text deals with relationships, but the approach is different. In the 1972 version, the women were the focus of the film, while in the 2024 version, Dr. Hashem is the focus.”

He continued: “The role was tempting, and what attracted me most regarding Hashem’s character is the psychological aspect, because he says things and does them, but they are different from what is inside him, and these contradictions tempted him. Life is not just black and white, but it has gray aspects. It is difficult to find a person whose history is white because no person has ever made a mistake, but the most important thing is tolerance and feelings.” “And romances, things change, and I am with a person so that he can be comfortable.”
