DGST Anti-Terrorist Operation: Rabat Court Sentences Seven Individuals to Prison

The Secondary Criminal Chamber responsible for terrorism cases at the Rabat Court of Appeal on Wednesday sentenced seven individuals, prosecuted in separate terrorism cases, to sentences ranging from one year to five years in prison.

In the first case, the court decided to reduce the sentence handed down in the first degree once morest the defendant (NA) from six years to five years in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams, to confirm the sentence of five years prison sentence once morest the accused (AB) and a one-year suspended sentence once morest the accused (AA) for “creation of a criminal gang with a view to preparing and committing terrorist acts aimed at seriously undermining public order and condoning terrorist acts”.

Concerning the second case, the same court confirmed the sentence pronounced in the first degree once morest the two defendants (YN) and (AC) sentencing them to three years in prison and decided to convert the sentence pronounced once morest a accused in the first degree of two years in prison to two years suspended.

On the other hand, the court confirmed the two-year suspended sentence handed down in the first instance once morest three defendants prosecuted in separate cases.

The six defendants, prosecuted while at liberty, were found guilty of “creation of a gang with a view to preparing and committing terrorist acts and advocating a terrorist organization”.
