What a bitter last minute buck!
SC Freiburg won 2-1 at VfL Bochum following 120 minutes and is in the last four of the DFB Cup for the second time in its history. Because Bochum’s Leitsch messes up badly!
120. Minute: The Bochum defender tries to play a ball back to keeper Riemann from the air, but fails to hit the ball properly. Sallai squirts in between, pokes the ball under Riemann and shoots the sports club into the first semifinals since 2013.
Previously, VfL Joker Polter (64th) had equalized Petersen’s lead in the sports club (51st/per sweep).
Bochum is lucky to have eleven players in the second half. VfL striker Locadia grabs Lienhardt by the neck and pushes him to the ground. Referee Schröder does not punish the scene (45 + 1). ARD expert Bastian Schweinsteiger (37): “Foolishness by Locadia. That’s a dark yellow card for me. Locadia was lucky.”
Does VfL coach Reis have a guilty conscience because of this? In any case, he leaves Locadia in the dressing room during the break, brings Polter and does everything right with it. Until Leitsch shoots the giant buck.
Strong reaction from the 10,000 fans in the Ruhr Stadium: They celebrate their team and unlucky Leitsch following the final whistle.
VfL goal scorer Polter on the ARD microphone: “You’re doing a great cup fight, and then unfortunately you get such an annoying goal. Everybody makes mistakes. We win together, we lose together.”
