Dewayne Dedmon suspended for 1 game by the NBA

Expelled during the Heat’s last meeting against the Thunder, Dewayne Dedmon will not play Miami’s next game either. The veteran pivot has just received a suspension match, he who had… swung a massage gun on the field…

“Warning, an unidentified flying object is about to crash into the FTX Arena floor!”

We are at the start of the second quarter. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and center Dewayne Dedmon have just had a very heated discussion on the bench, and the latter – hyper frustrated – ends up freaking out.

Luckily, Dedmon’s swinging massage gun hit the ground and not a player’s head, but that didn’t save the Heat center from being ejected for unsportsmanlike behavior and taking a game of suspension (against the Bucks tonight), as Shams Charania of The Athletic.

“This is unacceptable.”

– Erik Spoelstra on Dewayne Dedmon

What caused this cable bust from Dewayne Dedmon? Most likely his lack of minutes (less than 5 against the Thunder before his expulsion) and his overall role in Miami’s rotation (11.7 minutes per game, lowest career average). This does not excuse him, however, especially since he was expelled in a meeting where the Heat notably played without pivot titu Bam Adebayo and with only 8 players in the rotation (Dedmon included).

Sometimes finding themselves in transfer rumorsDewayne Dedmon could not last long at the Heat…
