Random: Devolver Cheekily Prods Sega on Sonic Origins pre-orders
Ah, you can always count on Devolver Digital to beat a bull by its horns and enjoy any kind of situation. And this time, Sega is the back of the joke.
Earlier this week, the much-anticipated Sega Sonic set, Sonic OriginsI receive Official departure date June 23 After several days of leaks. And while some people were excited, it was hard to ignore the chaotic ordering schedule Sega created for the group. Fortunately, we have a handy little guide detailing everything for you, but we also want to know what you think of this weird move by Sega:
Imagine if you didn’t have to go on. Many people ask why a bunch of old Sonic games need a bunch of add-ons to go along with it. Surely we just want to play the best versions of the classic quintet with a host of quality of life features and with everything accessible without paywalls?
Well, leave it to Devolver to take the opportunity to laugh at Sega at the Sonic Origins pre-order table. In a rather amusing move, the publisher has taken this opportunity to promote one of its games – day trip.
When things like extra animations and letterbox backgrounds are locked to pre-orders (or given out as pre-order bonuses if you pre-order special editions), it’s hard not to laugh when Devolver puts “full credits at the end” and an “amazing soundtrack” on their fake table. Can you imagine if the developer locks the final credits behind a paywall? Although there are many games where “The Real End” requires you to collect and pay extra bonus content.
Our friends in Eurogamer Contact Sega regarding pre-booking rewards. Given the amount of interaction and confusion it causes, Sega may need to rethink things. But at least Devolver made us laugh a little.
