Devils dominated by Islanders

The Devils woke up too late Friday in the NHL.

Manhandled for two thirds by the Islanders, New Jersey lost 6-4 to the New York franchise to suffer its sixth loss of the season in 27 games.

However, everything had started in an ideal way for the Devils, who opened the scoring with a success from their Valais captain Nico Hischier (12 goals this season) on the numerical superiority following 5’32” of play. But they then accumulated errors to find themselves trailing 6-2 following 1’00” in the third period.

New Jersey picked up 6-4 with 6’21” remaining, thanks in particular to two assists from Jonas Siegenthaler and while Akira Schmid had already left his cage. But the Devils might not turn the tide, and their Bernese goalkeeper conceded his first defeat of the season following replacing Vitek Vanecek in the 25th, at 4-1.

The 2nd star for Meier

The evening was softer for Timo Meier, who was named second star in a game San Jose won 6-1 at Anaheim. The Appenzell striker from the Sharks opened the scoring in the 11th before being credited with an assist on the 2-0. He is now at 27 points this season, 1 less than Nico Hischier.

Philipp Kurashev made his 9th assist in this 2022/23 championship in the jersey of the Chicago Blackhawks, who were beaten 3-1 at home by Winnipeg. Note also that the Coyotes of Janis Moser beat the best team in the League, Boston, 4-3, having framed 16 shots once morest 46 for the Bruins. The Arizona franchise had not beaten Boston since… October 2010.
