Decision on Maharashtra’s Next CM Expected Soon
After a landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the focus now shifts to who will lead the new government. Following a meeting of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in Delhi, several things have become clearer.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, and NCP leader Ajit Pawar to finalize the details of the new government.

While the Mahayuti alliance achieved a convincing victory, securing 230 seats in the 288-member Assembly, the question of whether Shinde would continue his tenure as Chief Minister remained a point of discussion. Many media reports suggested there were demands growing from within the Mahayuti to the next Chief Minister.
Following those discussions, Shinde assured the public that there may have been discussions within the party. “There is a meeting in Delhi tomorrow with Amit bhai and all related decisions will be taken there,” Shinde reported.
Shinde emphasized his support for the BJP’s choice, stating that he will “fully support” the decision and “not be a
hurdles in the process.” He called Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah a day before and said he was willing to abide by their discretion on who the next Chief Minister would be. The final decision rests with the BJP, as it was suggested,
and there was growing speculation about the new Chief Minister taking oath on either November 30 or December 1.
Shinde removed any doubt about potential tension by stating, “Our Shiv Sena will fully support the BJP’s decision to name the next MPG Maharashtra.” Two Deputy Chief Ministers are expected in the new government.

## Decision on Maharashtra’s Next CM Expected Soon
**Host:** Welcome back to the show. Today we’re talking about Maharashtra, where a landslide victory in the Assembly elections leaves everyone wondering: who will be the next Chief Minister? Joining me now is political analyst, Dr. Priya Sharma, to shed some light on this exciting political landscape.
Dr. Sharma, thank you for joining us.
**Dr. Sharma:** Thank you for having me. It’s certainly an interesting time in Maharashtra.
**Host:** Absolutely. The BJP secured a resounding victory. Does this mean Devendra Fadnavis is a shoe-in for Chief Minister?
**Dr. Sharma:** While Fadnavis is clearly a front-runner, the situation isn’t quite so straightforward. As we saw in the recent press conference [1](https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/maharashtra-cm-news-live-devendra-fadnavis-or-eknath-shinde-shiv-sena-bjp-ncp-ajit-pawar-chief-minister-101732672102807.html), Eknath Shinde, the caretaker CM and Shiv Sena leader, stated that his party will support the NDA. However, there seems to be ongoing discussions and negotiations regarding the final decision.
**Host:** What factors might be influencing this decision-making process?
**Dr. Sharma:** It’s a combination of factors. The power dynamics between the BJP and the Shiv Sena need to be carefully considered. Both parties hold significant influence and will likely want a share of power in the new government.
The BJP’s desire to maintain a strong presence in Maharashtra, coupled with the need for stability following the previous political turbulence, will also play a crucial role in the final decision.
**Host:** So, when can we expect an official announcement?
**Dr. Sharma:**
I anticipate an announcement within the next few days. Both parties are aware of the need for a quick resolution to ensure a smooth transition and begin addressing the pressing issues facing the state.
**Host:** Dr. Sharma, thanks for sharing your insights with us today.
**Dr. Sharma:** You’re welcome. It’s a fascinating chapter in Maharashtra’s political history.
